Getting More Traffic (Visitors) to Your Website

To determine the effectiveness of your website promotions, create special folders/directories and pages on your web server. Each should have a short code that relates to the web traffic promotion you are testing
eg. for FreeBanners.com, you may create the following folder and page www.yourdomain.com/fb/promopage.html

Check your website statistics to see which promotion works the best.

Be careful not to leave your main email address on promotional websites you're not sure about. You may end up on someone's mailing list. Use your Hotmail or Yahoo email account for this purpose.

There are many banner exchange programs/sites on the web.

When someone visits your website, another website is loaded in the background. When your visitor leaves your site or moves on, the fully loaded website in the background will then pop-up to the front, guaranteeing a full page view!

Reciprocal Links

Find as many other sites as you can that are prepared to exchange links with you. Some search engines determine how many links you have to your site and the more you have, the higher they rank your site in search results.

The types of links you could swap include:

• Text links - when sending your link details to the other webmaster, include the wording you would like. Create text link wording that is appealing and will make a visitor want to click it.
• Button Links - Because they are so small, static buttons don't attract much attention, so you'll need to design an animated button that flashes and invites the page visitor to "Click Me".
• Banners - In addition to including your banner/s in Banner Exchanges, swap it.

OnLine Classifieds

We've tried these and it has been a total waste of time. We've concluded that they're actually sites that are probably used to collect email addresses for spamming.
