Using Email to Promote Your Business

Opt-in Email

This is not the hated SPAM that you'll often hear being discussed on the media, but "opt-in" email that recipients approve and are happy to accept because it is specific to their interests. You can collect these yourself from your customers or prospects. Make sure you get their approval.

By using your own 'Opt-In' list, you know exactly to who and when your marketing emails are sent.

There are many sources of Opt-in email list available on the web. Simply do a search on "opt-in lists".

However, our questions are:

  • How do we know they have that many addresses?
  • How do we know they'll send them after we've paid?

It is essential you deal with a reputable 'Email List' company. Unfortunately, they're expensive - which gets back to - collect and maintain your OWN lists.

Whatever you do - DON'T SPAM! If you do, it will result in your ISP closing your account, negative feedback from recipients and you will get a bad reputation.

Safelists

These are email lists where you can post your email/advertisement to other members of the list. In return, you agree to receive email from all of those other list members. Get ready to receive LOTS of email if you use this method.

Bulk Email (SPAM)

DON'T DO IT!

*****If you're going to market your business using email, only do it when you have something valuable to say, make it interesting and give the recipient a reason to read your email.
